In order to convey information regarding the workings of imaging techniques and therapies of Nuclear Medicine and Radiology to children and illiterate adults, specific attractive, understandable and accessible visuals are designed. Hereby (young) patients truly can become owner of their healthcare processes. These stories are available for free as public animations on YouTube as well as purchasable as picture books. The primary aim of Visual Patient Education is to make knowledge available to anyone in such a way that it is understandable and suitable for people of all ages and level of intelligence. In order to achieve this goal, knowledge is transferred using cartoon characters. At the same time, there is not one all-encompassing form of visual education. It is often a combination of imaging techniques that tell the entire story for each individual project.
